Hi I'm curious as to whether iOS 14 is compatible with El Capitan 10.11.6 with iTunes 12.8.2.3
Hello, i installed iOS 13 on my iPhone 7 through the OTA, and when I try to connect my iPhone with iTunes (el capitan) it doesn’t show up. I have restarted my iPhone and Mac. I am running El Capitan 10.11.6 And iTunes 12.8.2.3 if I open photos my iPhone shows up. Any ideas what it could be? Yep - worked for me on my old MBP 2009 with El Capitan and latest iTunes for that (12.8.2.3) - as you say, allow the download/installation from the popup (this didn't happen until I had rebooted and plugged the phone in (iTunes was not running) - I started iTunes afterwards and the phone appeared. ITunes 12.3 with support for iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan is now available to download. Along with the release of iOS 9 download, Apple has pushed out a new update to its music management software. OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 Update. The OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 update improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac, and is recommended for all OS X El Capitan users. This update:. Adds the ability to passcode-protect notes containing personal data in Notes. Adds the ability to sort notes alphabetically, by date. Aug 25, 2019 Now, launch the Mac App Store, go to the El Capitan page or Purchased tab and download OS X El Capitan from there. MAS will now download it from the local server at a high speed. Once downloaded, you may proceed with the installation by clicking on Continue when the setup launches.
I've looked for this online but would like to confirm whether iOS 14 is compatible for sycing my iPhone SE 2 with El Capitan and I also have a 6th Generation iPad this would apply too.
The information I can find seems to suggest no, though when i plug either device into my mac the first thing it asks me is whether I would like to install iOS 14 on either of my devices.
This seems to contradict that that it is incompatible, as the update shouldn't show in iTunes if it's not compatible should it?

To get the latest features and maintain the security, stability, compatibility, and performance of your Mac, it's important to keep your software up to date. Apple recommends that you always use the latest macOS that is compatible with your Mac.
Learn how to upgrade to macOS Big Sur, the latest version of macOS.
Check compatibility
The version of macOS that came with your Mac is the earliest version it can use. For example, if your Mac came with macOS Big Sur, it will not accept installation of macOS Catalina or earlier.
If a macOS can't be used on your Mac, the App Store or installer will let you know. For example, it might say that it's not compatible with this device or is too old to be opened on this version of macOS. To confirm compatibility before downloading, check the minimum hardware requirements:
